Abstract
This dissertation delves into the role of research and development (R&D) within firms, particularly its impact on the financial market. The study reveals that companies with higher rankings in the stock exchange tend to allocate a greater proportion of their expenditures towards R&D.
Through empirical analysis, the research underscores that innovation and technological advancements serve as key drivers for enhancing companies' productivity and fostering growth. Furthermore, the financial market rewards companies that prioritize innovation, reflecting the market's recognition of their efforts to innovate.
Over time, the significance of R&D for companies has evolved, with its importance positively linked to a firm's capacity for growth. The study contextualizes R&D as a pivotal component in how firms envision their future, with the financial market serving as a gauge of the innovative potential of the firm.
The analyzed sample aligns with previous studies, demonstrating a positive relationship between R&D investment, market value, financial market performance, and residual income. Additionally, the research underscores the importance of government involvement in fostering a robust understanding of the role of R&D in driving economic growth.
