Information Sheet Title of Research Study: “The Growth of Online news Media in Ireland and Its Effect on the Newspaper industry” INFORMATION SHEET FOR PARTICIPANTS Dear interviewee, You are invited to take part in a research study to examine how the growth of online news media in Ireland, and how it has affected the newspaper industry. I would like to interview about your experiences of working in the media industry and what significant changes you have seen over time and how this has affected the productivity at the workplace. If you are a newspaper company owner, how those changes have affected your company and productivity. This research is part of a master's Thesis in Journalism and Media Communications for Griffith College, Dublin. Before you decide whether to take part in the study it is important that you understand what the research is for and what you will be asked to do. It is up to you to decide whether to take part or not. If you decide to take part, you will be given this information sheet to keep. You will also be asked to sign a consent form. You can change your mind at any time and withdraw from the study without giving a reason. The purpose of this study is to know; to what extent the growth of the online news media has affected the newspaper media in Ireland. You have been chosen, because of your experience in working in the media at a time of great technological change/ you own a newspaper industry in Ireland. If you choose to take part, the interview will last approximately 20 minutes and will be arranged to a time that suit you. Information from the interview will be used to quantify the extent to which the online news media has affected the newspaper industry in Ireland and what the newspaper media has to go through to keep afloat.
